New SU Student Service: 'You've Got Laundry'
When it comes to laundry, Salisbury University can claim to be more advanced than any other college or university in the United States, at least that’s what Stewart MacDonald Jr., chairman and CEO of Mac-Gray, the nation’s largest provider of academic laundry facilities, says. SU's new laundry system allows students to check online to see which washers and dryers are in use, sends them text messages when their laundry is finished and features a "PrecisionWash" auto-injection detergent system, ensuring just the right amount is used every time.

SU Musical Dinner Theatre November 20-23
From Rodgers and Hammerstein to the Gershwins, Salisbury University’s semi-annual Musical Dinner Theatre Workshop focuses on “The Great Collaborators” Thursday-Sunday, November 20-23. Directed by Dr. William Folger, director of choral studies at SU, and Dr. Darrell Mullins of the Communication Arts Department, featured selections include “Cell Block Tango” from Chicago, “Get Me to the Church on Time” from My Fair Lady, “In the Same Boat” from Curtains, the opening numbers from Brigadoon and others.

SU Students Place First in Goodman Accounting Challenge
When it comes to accounting, Salisbury University students are No. 1 in the region. And also No. 4. Two teams from SU recently took first and fourth place in the annual Goodman Accounting Challenge. Salisbury has hosted at least one team in the finals each year it has participated, representing 10 of the top 25 teams in the past five years.

What is the rate-limiting enzyme in glycolysis? A team of Salisbury University exercise science majors successfully answered this question (phosphofructokinase) and many others just as difficult to win this year’s American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter Quiz Bowl.

'Much Ado About Nothing' Opens at SU November 13
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Bobbi Biron Theatre programs enters a courtly world of masked revels and dances this fall with its production of one of Shakespeare’s most famous and popular comedies: Much Ado About Nothing. Directed by Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, performances are Thursday-Sunday, November 13-16 and 20-23 in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall. Curtain is 8 p.m., except Sundays which is 2 p.m.

SU Continues Sustainability Initiatives
When it comes to sustainability initiatives, there’s strength in numbers. That’s one reason why Salisbury University President Janet Dudley-Eshbach joined more than 400 other college and university leaders across the nation in the fight against global warming by signing the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. With her signature, Dudley-Eshbach pledged to move SU toward climate neutrality, with no net greenhouse gas emissions. SU will reduce its emissions and accelerate awareness efforts needed to help the local community, and the broader society, re-stabilize the earth’s climate.

SU SAT-Optional Pilot Study Yielding Positive Results
Salisbury University has the first results from its five-year pilot study making the SAT optional for freshmen with outstanding high school records, and administrators are smiling. The GPA and credits earned after one semester are slightly higher for the test-optional group that the test-submitted group, and their first semester, a greater percentage of test-optional students earned GPAs at or above minimum standards compared to test-submitted freshmen.

Healthy U Opens New Home at SU
Salisbury University just got a little healthier. Healthy U of Delmarva opened its new home at 103 Power Street during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, March 4. Healthy U officially became part of SU’s affiliated community outreach network at the beginning of this year. Founded in 2002 by civic leader Mitzi Perdue, Healthy U takes a community approach to better living through diet, exercise and other habits. [photos]
