Course Reserves are materials that faculty
set aside for students
to use in courses.
Normally, print reserves do not
circulate outside the library. Password
protected electronic reserve
materials (E-Reserves) are available 24/7.
Student Access to
Print Reserve Materials:
-
Print Reserves are located at the
Circulation Desk and are searchable in the
library catalog.
- Print Reserve materials must be returned/handed to a staff member at the Circulation Desk during open hours and in the Outside
Book Return
when the library is closed.
Student Access to
Electronic Reserve Materials:
- Electronic Reserves are searchable in the
library catalog
and viewable as full-text documents.
- Only faculty teaching courses with
assigned online materials can distribute passwords for access
to e-reserves. Students will also need their 14
digit library barcode number. Click here
for detailed instructions to
access e-reserves.
- Electronic reserves do not incur fines.

Note: Before filling out form, please read
Faculty Information
which will provide instructions. If this is the first time you are
submitting e-Reserves, it may be beneficial to setup an appointment with
Susan Wheatley
to discuss procedures and policies.
- The first time
copyright-protected material is
placed on reserve, no copyright permission is needed.
If the same
material will be used again (indicate this on all request
forms), the library will initiate a
request for its long-term use.
- All reserves
require a minimum of two weeks advance notice and are
processed on a first come, first served basis.
- E-reserve service
depends on staffing availability and on course delivery mode:
In priority order: (1) off-campus online courses, (2)
off-campus hybrid courses, and (3) on campus face-to-face
courses.
- Long term use of
the same materials will incur costs and is subject,
consequently, to available library funding.
e-Reserves will not replace traditional reserves entirely. Some
items cannot be placed online due to copyright, number of pages or types
of materials. Both types of services will co-exist for some time.
