Meet the Human Resources Team

We are here to support the University's mission and contribute to the overall well-being of the University by providing quality human resources services to current employees, retirees, and potential employees. Some of the services provided by this office include Recruitment and Employment, Classification and Compensation, Human Resources Management Systems, Labor Relations/Union negotiations, Leave and Timekeeping, Employee Relations, Benefits and Staff Development.
 

Marvin Pyles, SPHR

Is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and strategic vision in all areas of human resource management. Responsibilities include hands-on oversight and management of the University’s human resource activities including the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs and services; recruitment, selection, retention, legal compliance, employee benefits, employee relations, labor relations, union negotiations, employment practices and procedures, staff communications, compensation and benefits management, environmental health and safety, staff training and compliance with federal and state labor/employment laws & regulations; and BOR USM policies/procedures. Also serves as internal consultant to University’s management team, supervisors and staff on personnel issues.
 

Inge Frost, PHR

Inge assists the HR Director in leading and coordinating all human resource services, programs, and activities. She is responsible for providing consulting guidance and assistance to staff, faculty and management regarding policy administration, procedures, employee relations, compensation administration, performance management, employee discipline, and retirement benefits. Inge serves as the functional lead on the PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System (HRMS) administration. Inge acts with the authority of the Director in his absence.
 

Wayne Shelton, CHMM

Wayne is responsible for the development and administration of University safety and risk management programs designed to ensure staff, faculty, public, and student safety, eliminate risk, and assure compliance with OSHA/MOSH, Maryland Asbestos Safety and Health Program, hazardous waste management, incident reporting, Worker Compensation process, emergency and non-emergency response and all other applicable health and safety standards. He educates the campus community in accordance with the Maryland State Employee Risk Management Association Program (SERMA) and delivers OSHA safety-related training topics. Wayne also chairs the University Safety Committee and the Vehicle Accident Review Board.

Jeff performs a variety of professional activities in the areas of recruitment, selection, employment, EEO compliance, job analysis and job evaluation, classification and compensation, salary surveys and data analysis, employee relations, and labor relations as well as carries out other human resources generalist duties. He also represents the University in all unemployment related matters, provides consultative direction to constituents on HR best practices, and assists in the development and administration of human resources policies and procedures.


Jennifer Whaley

Is responsible for a variety of professional activities focusing on compensation and classification, job analysis, salary administration, compliance, HRMS, data analysis, new hire orientation, policy administration, and all facets of the employee life-cycle.  Also provides consultative direction to constituents on HR best practices, and assists in the development and administration of human resources policies and procedures.

Maria is responsible for providing consultative services to faculty, staff and retirees on the variety of benefits programs available, including retirement so they may be able to better understand their options and use their benefits. Maria processes all personnel and benefits related transactions, creates and updates personnel records including maintenance of PeopleSoft administrative functions.
 

Bonnie Moran

Bonnie greets and assists staff, faculty and visitors, and is responsible for posting and advertising job opportunities, applicant tracking and processing, performing PeopleSoft administrative functions and providing administrative support to the Human Resources Office.
 

Nadalyne Campbell

Nadalyne is responsible for processing and maintaining a variety of HR related documents, processing of contingent employment contracts, and maintenance of I-9 forms.  She also assists with the benefit administration, maintenance of related records and PeopleSoft administrative functions, and provides administrative support to the Human Resources Office.
